the journey..part 3

it’s been a week now since i last wrote here..and within last week, i’ve been going out and about to a few more places and discover a lot of things..and a lot of things have happened too that require me to be a bit busy managing them during my holidays..

my aunt and i have been waiting for the austrian consulate to approve my uncle’s visa to visit europe but it seemed like they needed to create paper, rubber stamp and may be computer from scratch to issue the visa..it’s been three weeks now since my uncle applied for the visa and they still haven’t approve it yet..so since uncle haven’t got his visa yet,  we went to visit a few places in serbia..so we went to Novi Sad and Nis (as in Nish)..those places are beautiful and we really enjoyed our time because it’s summer and we don’t need to rush for prayers 🙂

and yesterday, my aunt decided to go to Hungary and unfrtunately, uncle had to stay at home because we need to cross the border and since he haven’t got his visa yet, he could not go with us..but it’s ok uncle, you’ve been there many times before..it’s just that there will be no you in our pictures..hihi..and since i’m a poor driver who cannot drive manual car, aunt had to ask one of her colleague to join us and alternately drive the car whenever one of them got tired..so shasha followed us yesterday..we left belgrade at 5.30 in the morning and reached belgrade again at 12.30 midnight..

along the way we had a very long talk and one thing i realised was, i am in the country where the language spoken is one of the slavic languages..i remembered having a very hard time understanding the root and the family members of the slavic languages when i was doing the assignment for LALS 101 last year and yesterday, Shasha explained almost everything that i don’t understand about slavic languages..ok i think i have forgotten what i’ve learned but i do realised something..that if you have experience of using one of the languages in the language family, and you even live or originated from one of the places, you would easily understand the differences..similarities..how and why the languages differ or sound alike..for example, i know why malaysian, singaporean, indonesian and brunei can understand one another..and i can quite understand easily the readings that showed similarities in the spelling system of malay language and maori language because i can see and make sense of what i learned..owh, the conclusion is, whoever wants to take LALS 101, it’s very good if you can have experience to be in any of the countries that have a prominent language families and learn the differences in their languages..

ok now i have something to tell about my remaining days of holiday..i was thinking of extending my holiday for a few more days..i’ve emailed the travel agent asking them if they could find any availabilities in some different flights so i can go back on the 10th july and unfortunately they could not find any becauseof high season and it looked like people want to experience the european summer..so i need to extend it further and asked them to look for any flights that fly latest by 12th..if in case they could not find any, i will need to skip the first week of the class and take flights on the 17th..and i really hope they can find one place for me and i really want it to be on the 12th..at least i don’t miss the first week of class..

and i need to let jonathan, anette and jojo know formally that i’m going to arrive a bit late so they will not have to worry about me..

and also, i need to figure out how i’m going to sign up for tutorials if i cannot come to the first week classes..girls help me~!!! owh, here are some pictures =)
